Operator and contact
FIRST Video Saver is operated by FirstVideoDownloader, 1–2 Alpen House, Portsmouth, United Kingdom. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@firstvideodownloader.com.
This notice describes the packaged FIRST desktop browser extension and its optional local companion. The FIRST website is a separate processing route: it prepares files on a server and offers paid plans through Stripe. Website visitors should also read the website Privacy Policy and billing information. Installing the extension does not automatically create a website account, upload the extension’s download history or start a subscription.
Information used when you invoke the extension
When you open FIRST on a page, the extension uses temporary access to that tab to inspect media elements and accessible frames. It processes the page and media URLs and available metadata, which can include a title, thumbnail address, duration, formats and sizes. This information provides the choices and download progress you request. FIRST does not continuously collect a general history of the websites you browse.
Some source URLs contain private or short-lived access information. Treat them as confidential. Do not include signed media links, passwords or account cookies in screenshots or support messages. FIRST does not automatically import source-site login cookies into the companion.
Local storage and download records
The extension stores settings, automatically managed companion credentials and up to 100 recent download records in local browser extension storage. Records can include media metadata, progress, output filenames and job or browser-download identifiers. The extension does not sync these records to a FIRST developer server or use them for advertising.
The browser also maintains its own download records under its settings. Clearing finished tasks inside FIRST removes those task records; it does not erase downloaded files or necessarily remove the browser’s own download history. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage subject to the browser’s behaviour. Separately installed companion software and downloaded files must be removed separately.
Direct downloads, the companion and source services
A direct download contacts the source website or its content-delivery services through the browser. The optional companion runs on your device and can inspect supported sources, retrieve tracks, merge video and audio and convert audio locally. It communicates with the extension through authenticated local requests. Its native bridge is registered for the applicable extension identifier.
These source services receive ordinary network-request information, such as the requesting IP address and request headers, and apply their own privacy practices. A displayed thumbnail can also make a request to the source’s image service. FIRST does not route those images through a developer analytics service or promise that a third-party source sees no network information.
The companion keeps temporary files on your device while preparing the requested output. Older job folders are cleaned when the companion starts according to its implementation; cleanup is not guaranteed while it is stopped. Completed downloads remain where you save them. Companion runtime credentials and registration files remain until removed or replaced. Local storage is not a promise of encryption at rest.
Developer collection, use and sharing
The current extension contains no advertising SDK, developer analytics tracker or extension-hosted payment checkout. It does not upload your downloaded media or task history to FIRST for profiling, sale or advertising. Page access, storage, download controls and companion communication are used to provide the declared download function, not unrelated browsing surveillance.
The extension can accept an explicit link-opening request from the permitted FIRST website origins. Such a request opens a selection page; it does not give the website the extension’s stored credentials or unrestricted access to its local history. If you separately use website downloads, that server workflow is governed by the website Privacy Policy rather than a claim that the extension processed the file locally.
Support correspondence
If you email support, FirstVideoDownloader receives the information you choose to send and uses it to respond, investigate and keep an appropriate record of the issue. The support mailbox is hosted by Hostinger. Avoid attaching private recordings or unnecessary personal information; a device, browser version, selected format and error text are often sufficient.
Support correspondence is kept for handling the request and necessary follow-up. Relevant records may be retained longer when needed to resolve a dispute, document a security incident or meet an applicable legal obligation. Requests for deletion are assessed against those purposes and obligations. The operator does not claim to remotely retrieve or erase local extension records that never reached its systems.
Purpose, legal basis and service providers
Where UK data-protection law applies, information necessary to provide a requested service is used for that service; proportionate security, troubleshooting and support records may be handled for the operator’s legitimate interests, taking account of the person’s rights. Legal obligations can require particular records to be kept. This does not authorise unrelated marketing or the collection of unnecessary sensitive data.
Browser vendors, source platforms and email providers can process information under their respective terms and policies, including through infrastructure outside your country. The extension does not use that fact to claim that all processing remains in the United Kingdom. Relevant safeguards and provider arrangements must be considered for information the operator actually controls. Ask the support contact about a particular concern without sending private credentials.
Security and your controls
Use device access controls and current browser software. Keep companion credentials private and do not expose its local service to the internet. A person with access to your device or browser profile may be able to access local records and downloaded files. FIRST cannot guarantee security on a compromised device or control the security of a third-party source.
You can close the extension, cancel active tasks, clear finished records, change save preferences and uninstall the extension. You can separately stop or remove the companion and delete temporary or completed files. Removing software does not automatically cancel a website subscription; use the website’s billing-management route for a separate paid purchase.
Your privacy rights
Where applicable, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of or restrictions on personal information held by the operator, object to relevant processing, or ask about portability. These rights have conditions and exceptions. Contact support@firstvideodownloader.com with enough information to identify the request; do not send excessive identity documents before they are necessary. You may also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or another competent authority.
Local media and extension records remain under your device’s controls unless you choose to share them. The operator cannot provide a copy of local information it has never received. If a request concerns a source platform or the browser’s own records, that service’s privacy controls may be the appropriate route.
Chrome API limited use and changes
FIRST uses information received through Chrome APIs to provide the user-facing download function. It does not use that information for advertising, unrelated profiling or resale. Its use of that information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This is a description of data handling, not a statement that Google has approved the product.
The operator will update this notice when the extension’s actual processing changes and will publish a revised effective date. New website billing or server functionality must not be described as local extension-only processing. The public policy for this extension is available at /legal/extension-privacy/ on the FIRST website.
