1. What this policy covers

A cookie is information stored by a website in a browser and sent back with relevant requests. Browser local storage can keep information for a site without sending it automatically in every request. FIRST uses these mechanisms for specific functions rather than treating all storage as an invisible marketing tool. This policy distinguishes the website account session, optional extension settings and infrastructure that may be provided by a host.

The current public website uses ChatGPT Sites and its delivery infrastructure, with a Google Cloud processing server. Website security storage is separate from the FIRST account session described below.

2. Website account session

The website uses a cookie named first_session to recognise a free browser allowance, keep prepared jobs private and recognise paid access without a password login. The server sets it as HttpOnly, which prevents ordinary page scripts from reading it. In HTTPS deployments it is also marked Secure, and SameSite=Strict limits when the browser sends it across sites. A free browser session has a configured maximum lifetime of one year. A session restored with an email purchase link lasts seven days. A browser cleanup, disconnection or revocation can end recognition earlier.

This session associates a browser with its private jobs, three-download allowance and any active purchase. If you block it, account-dependent downloads and billing management will not work as intended. It is not an advertising identifier. The server stores a hash of its session token rather than the browser token itself. This identifier is not used for advertising or invasive browser fingerprinting.

3. Local settings and extension storage

Earlier website versions stored an optional extension identifier under the local-storage key violet-extension-id. The current website download flow does not require or write that identifier. The historical key name is an internal identifier, not a different product owner. Website downloads do not require that extension. Browser local storage usually persists until the site or user removes it, subject to browser storage rules.

The extension itself may store preferences, task information and local companion credentials through Chrome’s extension storage. Those are not ordinary website cookies and are managed through the browser and extension settings. Do not share local companion credentials with a website or with a support agent. Removing optional local settings does not cancel a paid subscription or erase server-side account records.

4. Hosting, payments and external resources

A hosting or security provider may set cookies to protect the website, route requests or distinguish abusive traffic. A payment provider can use its own storage on hosted checkout or billing pages. The current delivery infrastructure uses Cloudflare security cookies, including __cf_bm, which the observed response sets to expire after 30 minutes. Live Stripe checkout is enabled. If you choose a paid plan, Stripe’s storage information applies on its hosted checkout and billing pages.

The current website self-hosts its fonts and marketing photographs. Other external resources, if later added, can involve network requests even when no marketing cookie is used, and their data flows must be assessed in the Privacy Policy. An external link that you choose to follow takes you to a service governed by its own notice. FIRST does not claim that its own controls automatically manage every cookie set on a third-party checkout page.

5. Analytics and marketing

The supplied application does not include an analytics dashboard, advertising pixel or marketing-consent framework merely by having a blog or pricing page. No such tracking should be added under the label “essential” without assessing what it does. If non-essential cookies or comparable storage are introduced, the operator must provide the information and valid choices required by applicable law before using them.

Rejecting optional marketing storage, if offered in a future version, should not be disguised as cancelling an account or losing rights in files you are permitted to download. The current policy must be updated when processing changes. A generic banner saying that continued browsing means agreement would not, by itself, establish a suitable choice for every optional purpose.

6. Managing browser storage

You can use your browser’s site settings to view or clear cookies and local storage. Clearing the FIRST session removes recognition of that browser and its prepared jobs. Paid access can be restored with an email purchase link. Clearing optional extension settings may require you to save them again. Private-browsing modes may discard storage at the end of the session, and some browser protections can prevent functions that depend on a session cookie.

Clearing storage or switching browsers can prevent us from recognising a free allowance, so this is a browser-based limit rather than a guaranteed per-person limit. Deliberately evading service limits is prohibited. Existing server records are not erased merely by clearing a cookie. To ask about account information or deletion, use the Privacy Policy contact route. To stop recurring billing, use subscription management or contact support rather than relying on a browser cleanup.

7. Review and contact

We review this information when hosting, checkout or website storage changes. Browser and infrastructure behaviour can change with provider updates. Contact us if you need clarification about an observed cookie or network request.

If you encounter a storage behaviour that does not match this explanation, contact support with the page, browser and a description of what happened. Avoid sending session values or screenshots containing private tokens. We can investigate a function without asking you to disclose the credential that keeps you signed in.
